The Friends of The Maine Children's Home

The Friends of The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers is an organization formed to create a closer relationship between The Maine Children's Home and the community and provide assistance to the agency in serving needy children and families through fundraising and volunteerism.

The Friends is a service organization comprised of individuals that have been helping to support The Maine Children's Home for over 50 years.

Some of the Friends fundraising events include:

Annual Lobster Lunch: Every October, volunteers come together to make lobster rolls that are ordered by supporting businesses and organizations in the community. After a morning of making lobster rolls, volunteers head out to deliver the more than 100 pounds of lobster rolls.

Annual Book Shower: Each spring, to honor our teen parents and their babies, volunteers join to provide books for parents in need. 

Annual Spring Yard Sale: Nothing says spring in Maine like a huge yard sale! Members of the Friends program donate household items and encourage others to give their household items so they can be sold at one of the biggest yard sales you will ever find!

The Christmas Program: Each year, the Christmas Program at The Maine Children's Home distributes boxes of gifts and clothing to approximately 1,600 financially disadvantaged children throughout the state. It is the only program of its kind that provides new toys, books, games and new, warm clothing to boys and girls throughout Maine. The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers biggest community effort wouldn't be possible without the support of the  volunteers that help from the Friends organization.
