The Maine Children's Trust is the statewide child abuse and neglect prevention organization whose mission is to prevent the abuse and neglect of Maine's children. The annual Organization of the Year award recognizes a community-based organization that offers support to the cause of strengthening families and the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
"This award means a lot to our hard-working staff and entire organization. The services we offer through The Children's Place, CAST program and teen parenting programs are designed to help make decisions that are in the best interest of the children. It's a great honor to be recognized by the Maine Children's Trust for our commitment to stop child abuse and neglect prevention," said Sharon Abrams, executive director of Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers.
Since 1899, The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers has grown into a multi-faceted organization that has evolved to meet the challenges of changing times. In addition to the adoption program, the agency offers outpatient counseling, the Teen Parent School Program, The Children's Place early care and education center, a summer camp scholarship program, and a Christmas Program that provides clothing and toys to underprivileged Maine children.
Representatives of the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers are available for interviews about this award. To arrange, contact Greg Glynn at 207-623-4177.
