Warm weather, plenty of candy-filled eggs and an appearance by the Easter Bunny provided plenty of motivation for children in the Waterville area to participate in the 3rd Annual Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3, 2010. The event was hosted by The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, a nonprofit agency that operates Maine's longest-running adoption program.
The event involved two separate egg hunts. The early festivities involved an egg hunt for children ages 3 and under and the later egg hunt was designed for children from pre-school to second grade. Each hunt had one lucky egg that was worth a free bicycle. The two bikes, valued at $200 were won by Trent Smith, age 2 and Sarah Poli, age 7.
Steve Mayberry, development director at the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, says the event is a great way to give back to the people in the community.
"This annual Egg Hunt is a fun way to encourage kids to come out and meet the Easter Bunny and socialize with other children. The event is also a great way for parents to become more familiar with not only our adoption services, but our counseling services, teen parenting programs and early childhood care services. Most of all we enjoy seeing the smiles from the children, it makes organizing the event very rewarding," says Mayberry.
Representatives of The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers are available for interviews about this event. To arrange, contact Greg Glynn at 207-623-4177.
