The event hosted by The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, a non profit agency that operates Maine's longest-running adoption program, was scheduled just in time to beat the rain that fell the majority of the day.
The Easter festivities, held at 93 Silver Street in Waterville on The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers campus, has become a tradition families of the surrounding communities look forward to each year. With over 130 children and approximately 100 adults in attendance, this year's event was a success.
The event featured two separate egg hunts. The early session was designed for children ages three and under, while the later hunt was for children ranging from pre-school to second grade. One lucky egg from each age group entitled the child who discovered it to a free bicycle.
Bike winners were Colby Keene, age two, from Norridgewock and Aedina Ethier, age seven, from Waterville.
Development Director at The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, Steve Mayberry, says the Easter event brings people from the surrounding community to come together and connect at this fun-filled holiday event.
"This Egg Hunt is not only a blast and makes the participating children smile ear-to-ear, as well as all the onlooking adults, but it is also a great opportunity for attendees to become educated about Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers wide range of services that help and impact many on a day-to-day basis," Mayberry said. "This ties in with our agency's goal to build and strengthen families."
The event was supported by volunteers from Maine Children's Home, as well as eleven Colby College students and four New Balance employees.
Early next month, T&B's Celebration Center of Waterville will host a Wine Tasting Event to benefit The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers. The event will be held on Thursday, May 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is generously sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank, Pine State Trading Co., Skowhegan Savings, Oxford Networks, T-Mobile, Joka's Discount Beverage and Dr. Zak and Kim Nashed. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and a silent auction will take place. Tickets for the event are $30.00 and include a glass of champagne and two complimentary Riedel wine glasses.
Representatives of The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers are available for interviews about this event. To arrange, contact Greg Glynn at 207-623-4177.
