The Christmas program at The Maine Children's Home provides boxes of clothing, toys, books and more to income eligible families for their children who are 12 and under, who live in the state of Maine, and who are willing to pick up a box in Waterville on a mutually arranged distribution day.
To be eligible, you must fall within the guidelines listed below.
Only the parent or legal guardian of the children receiving gifts are allowed to apply and applications will not be accepted after November 30, or when we have reached our limit, whichever comes first. Applicants should have all the information available with them when they apply. This information includes names, sizes for clothing and shoes, and toy interests for all eligible children. You will also need to provide Social Security numbers for all income-earning members of the household and the total yearly or monthly gross income for the entire household. You will receive information, after you apply, about where and when to pick up your box. Please save this information.
When you pick up your box in Waterville, you must show a photo ID and you must bring information that proves your income, such as a copy of last year’s tax return, pay stubs, etc. You will also be asked to sign an affidavit stating that the information you have provided is accurate and true and that you are not receiving Christmas help from any other organization. You may only get Christmas gifts from us if you are not getting help from anyone else.
Providing false information in order to obtain gifts from us is considered Theft by Deception. It is a crime that we take very seriously at The Maine Children’s Home and it is punishable by law. If you provide false information to us on your Christmas application, you may be dropped from our program and legal action may be taken.
