Greetings!
As Labor Day approaches, here at our Waterville campus we are excited for another school year to begin. It will just be a few more days before yellow school buses fill the streets and kids will grab their backpacks for the first day of school.
This month, we are proud of our very own preschool students from The Children's Place for finding a very kind way to say thank you to Oxford Networks for their recent donation.
Also in this month's e-newsletter is information about the volunteers that are needed for our annual Christmas Program that helps distribute boxes of gifts and clothing to approximately 1,600 financially disadvantaged children throughout Maine. If you would like to volunteer, please let us know.
Sincerely,

Sharon Abrams, Executive Director

Preschoolers from The Children's Place Provide Gifts to Oxford Networks
Earlier this summer, Oxford Networks donated 100 feet of copper wire, valued at $1,300, to the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers in Waterville. On August 10, children from The Children's Place wanted to say thank you in their very own special way. Using the wire that was donated by the Maine-based company, the entire class of students invited Oxford Networks to visit the campus so they could present them with gifts.
When the representatives from Oxford Networks, Julia Munsey and Peter SeeHusen arrived, the children from TheChildren's Place presented them with a huge thank you card as well as wire gifts, including mobiles and sculptures specifically made for employees at Oxford Networks.
The wire, typically used on telephone poles, was requested for creative art projects for the 2- to 5-year olds at The Children's Place, students at the Teen Parent School Program, and clients in art therapy counseling sessions.

Christmas Program Looking for Volunteers
Intake volunteers are needed from October 31 through December 9 to take telephone applications from individuals that wish to receive assistance during the upcoming Christmas season.
Intake volunteers will be asked to commit to at least one day a week from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and should be comfortable working with a computer and on the telephone.
The Christmas Program is also currently scheduling individuals and groups of volunteers ages 12 and up for Christmas box packing, inventory management, organization and other duties as needed. This work can be labor intensive and may involve some heavy lifting and traveling up and down stairs.
Please be advised that spots for Christmas volunteering book quickly. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact Cristen Sawyer, Christmas Program Director via email or by calling
