April 2011

Greetings!

Sharon Abrams, Maine Childrens HomeHappy Earth Day!

The weather sure is starting to feel more like spring lately, and just in time for our Annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday!

It has been a busy month on our campus. In case you haven't heard the news, we recently announced the completion of our $35,000 energy conservation project! We are so grateful to everyone who helped in the process including Efficiency Maine, Trident Controls Inc., and The S Douglas and Rita C Sukeforth Charitable Foundation. This project will save the agency an estimated $10,000 per year!

In this month's e-newsletter, you will find information about our upcoming Easter Egg Hunt, MCH Friends Yard Sale, and an exciting wine tasting event!

Enjoy the sunshine and the smiling faces that come with it.

Sincerely,

Sharon Abrams, Executive Director

The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, the non-profit agency that operates the state's longest-running adoption program, announced April 19 that the organization has completed a recent $35,000 major energy conservation project that was made possible as part of a grant from Efficiency Maine and matching donation from The S Douglas and Rita C Sukeforth Charitable Foundation. The recent project will better control heating costs by saving the organization as much as an estimated $10,000 per year.

The funding for the project was led by a grant from Efficiency Maine for $17,625 through its Commercial Project Grant program. This amount provided half of the funds to provide the controls, installation and software to set-up a network to enable The Maine Children's Home to consolidate the heating system for their five-building campus in Waterville. The second half of the funding totaling $35,000 was provided by the S Douglas and Rita C Sukeforth
Charitable Foundation. With the financial support provided by the Foundation, the anticipated five-year payback will result in an immediate return on investment. The money preserved by the financial gift will be spent on the agency's variety of programs and families in the surrounding community. More...
