WATERVILLE, Maine — June 18, 2026 — Maine Children’s Home (MCH) has received several recent grants supporting children and families across Maine through mental health care, parenting education, and family-centered services.
Recent awards include:
-
A $10,000 grant from the Maine Charity Foundation Fund of the Maine Community Foundation (MaineCF), awarded in May 2026, to support prenatal and parenting education, mental health connections and community resources for pregnant and parenting teens and young adults in MCH’s young parent support program.
-
A $7,500 grant from The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation, awarded in May 2026, to support the creation of a healing garden for clients served through the future MCH Center for Families.
-
A $15,000 grant from the Doree Taylor Charitable Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, awarded in March 2026, to expand access to MCH mental health services for individuals experiencing poverty.
-
An $18,000 grant from the Davis Family Foundation, established by Phyllis C. Davis and H. Halsey Davis, awarded in December 2025, to support a new electronic health record system and improve the efficiency of mental health care services.
“These grants strengthen our ability to provide coordinated, family-centered support for children and families across Maine,” said Executive Director Dan Booth. “They directly support the work that will take place in our new Center for Families by improving access to mental health care, parenting support and coordinated services that help us meet families’ needs more effectively and holistically.”
The Center for Families will open to clients in early July at 93 Silver Street in the Lunder Building on MCH’s Waterville campus. Hosting adoption, counseling, young parent support and targeted case management programs, the center will bring these four family-focused programs together under one roof and enhance capacity for mental health services.
The Center for Families project builds on a nearly completed renovation of the 60-year-old Lunder Building, supported in part by $525,000 in federal funding secured through U.S. Sen. Angus King and approved by the Appropriations Committee in 2023. A public grand opening is planned for September 12, 2026.
